What the weight rating on a seat lift actually tells you

The number printed next to “weight capacity” on any seat lift is not a suggestion. It’s the maximum safe working load the whole structure was designed for — frame, actuator, base, and upholstery together. And it’s not only about the person sitting still. The rating has to cover the dynamic load during the lift itself. When the mechanism pushes a chair upward, it’s moving mass against gravity, and the forces at the start and stop of that movement run higher than your static body weight.
